Beaumont Martial Arts Legacy
Greg Dorsey is one of Beaumont’s most respected martial artists, with a long record of accomplishments and victories in the sport. Having participated in Beaumont-area martial arts tournaments for more than three decades across several organizations, I can attest to the strength and depth of the martial arts community there. Through his organization’s partnership with TKO, Dorsey has helped elevate the level of competition and recognition in this strong region of Texas.
Event Highlights
This year’s Black Dragon Open was once again held at the Sterling Pruitt Activity Center Gym in Beaumont, Texas on June 6th 2026. A large crowd from the Beaumont martial arts community and the TKO karate organization came together to bring energy and life to the event.
Youth and adult competitors competed for the opportunity to win a Black Dragon championship ring. Specialty divisions featured grappling, kickboxing, breaking, Escrima-Kali continuous sparring, and Jiu-Jitsu, adding variety and excitement to the day. Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and soft-style practitioners also played a major role, with loud ki-ai echoing throughout the gym and contributing to the electric atmosphere.
The tournament ran on a timely schedule and delivered exciting competition, drawing competitors from across Texas and Louisiana. Families filled the venue in support of the athletes, helping make the event both a prestigious tournament and a memorable family outing for many in attendance.

Grand Championship Results
The event produced new champions and gave many participants and spectators a strong sense of accomplishment and fellowship. As the day moved toward its conclusion, the Grand Championships brought some of the most exciting moments of the tournament.
- Adult Under Belt Grand Champion: Jenifer Clayton
- Beginner Grand Champion: Kamden Roberts
- Intermediate Grand Champion: Gillian Morris
- Advanced Grand Champion: Alexander Artlog, who overcame 10 other competitors
- Junior Black Belt Grand Champion: Ace Dhanani, who earned the Dragon trophy after a series of strong performances
The black belt divisions also delivered standout performances. David Johnson, Bradley Clayton, and Morgan Smith competed head-to-head, with Bradley Clayton taking home the Dragon trophy and the cash prize. David Patterson followed with an impressive win in the adult executive men’s Black Belt Grand Championship. The day concluded with the men’s black belt Grand Championship, where Moti Fadi prevailed after a series of intense and exciting matches.
Overall, Greg Dorsey’s Black Dragon Open delivered a full day of spirited competition, community pride, and memorable performances, making it another successful tournament for Beaumont’s martial arts scene.
